On Thursday, Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces accused the Sudanese army of setting fire to the largest oil fields in the Darfur region, simultaneously with drone strikes targeting an oil station east of the capital, Khartoum.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Rapid Support Forces stated that “Sudanese army intelligence burned the oil wells in the Zarga Um Hadid field in East Darfur state.”

The statement added that this act would “undermine security and stability in the region, halt production, and destroy infrastructure.”

Furthermore, the statement highlighted that the incident coincided with the targeting of the al-Ailafon, oil station east of the capital Khartoum with drones, resulting in a partial fire at the station.

Additionally, it pointed out the repeated aerial bombardment of the El Geili refinery north of Khartoum.

For over a year, violent and wide-ranging clashes have persisted between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in various areas of Sudan, primarily concentrated in the capital, Khartoum, leaving hundreds of civilians dead and injured.
