Former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has announced his retirement from football at the age of 36. Fabregas had a successful career in which he won the World Cup with Spain, La Liga with Barcelona, and the Premier League twice with Chelsea.

He had been playing for Italian club Como in Serie B, but has called time on his playing career one year into a two-year contract. Fabregas will now move into coaching and will be coaching Como’s reserve and youth teams. He expressed his excitement about the new role and called the club and its project charming.

Fabregas began his football journey at the age of 10 in Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 1997. He then played 212 Premier League matches for Arsenal between 2004 and 2011 before moving back to Barcelona. Fabregas returned to the Premier League in 2014 with Chelsea and played under 200 games for the club.

He also won 110 caps for Spain and won the European Championship twice, in 2008 and 2012, and the World Cup in South Africa in 2010. Fabregas expressed gratitude for his career and all his experiences, saying that he will treasure them all.
