Russia announced it targeted the command center of Ukraine’s southern army division in Odesa, according to statements from the Russian Defense Ministry reported by Reuters.

The ministry detailed that the strike involved operational and tactical aviation, missiles, and artillery. However, specifics of the attack were not disclosed, other than mentioning that Russian troops were fortifying their positions across the entire frontline.

Ukrainian legal authorities reported that residential areas and civilian facilities in Odesa suffered damage due to an overnight attack. Additionally, the Southern military command noted that the strike affected administrative structures, as well as medical and educational institutions.

The authenticity of these claims has not yet been independently confirmed by the Guardian.

With recent strategic advancements, Russia is preparing for a potential summer offensive and is reportedly gearing up by mobilizing an additional 100,000 troops.
