Statements by Hamas Political Bureau member Mousa Abu Marzook regarding the potential relocation of the movement’s leaders to Jordan continue to stir debate, sparking renewed tensions in media exchanges involving Jordan.

Reacting to Abu Marzook’s remarks made to Iranian media on Monday, Hamas leader Ghazi Hamad expressed surprise, asserting that the issue had not been discussed within the movement’s circles.

While acknowledging his respect for Abu Marzook, Hamad emphasized that Qatar remains fully supportive of Hamas, dismissing any suggestion of leadership relocation as unfounded.

Former Jordanian Minister of Information Samih Al-Maaytah reaffirmed Jordan’s stance, categorically stating that Jordan would not permit any non-Jordanian organization to operate within its borders.

Describing Abu Marzook’s hints as provocative and unnecessary, Jordanian sources highlighted tensions in Hamas-Jordan relations, particularly following calls from Hamas leaders to incite demonstrations within the country.

This recent development underscores ongoing complexities in regional dynamics, with diplomatic efforts likely required to address and mitigate potential sources of friction between Hamas and Jordan.
