Ageela Saleh, the Speaker of Libya’s House of Representatives, has called on Italian companies to engage in Libya’s ongoing reconstruction and development projects.

During a meeting held on Sunday in Al-Qubbah, Saleh also announced the reopening of direct flight routes between Benghazi and Italian airports.

The meeting, which also included the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, and the Italian Consul in Benghazi, Francesco Luigi, focused on enhancing bilateral relations at various levels.

Saleh emphasized the need for Italian businesses to resume their activities in Libya, contributing to vital reconstruction and development initiatives.

Additionally, Saleh confirmed the implementation of the Imsaad-Ras Ajdir road project as previously planned.

He highlighted the return of direct air travel and maritime navigation lines between Benghazi and Italian cities, aimed at benefiting both nations and easing visa procedures for Libyan citizens, particularly patients and students in Italy.

In his remarks, Saleh underscored that the resolution of Libya’s challenges lies through holding presidential and parliamentary elections and forming a unified government to fulfill electoral commitments, reflecting the aspirations and ambitions of the Libyan people.

This initiative follows the Italian government’s decision last July to lift a decade-long air ban on Libyan civilian flights, with services resuming in September of the same year, marking a new chapter in Libya-Italy relations.
