The Mexican Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advisory urging its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the Middle East, specifically Israel and Iran.

The advisory also strongly recommends that Mexicans currently in Israel plan their departure as soon as possible due to escalating tensions.

In a statement, the ministry highlighted the risks associated with staying in these countries, noting that the availability of consular assistance and protection could be severely compromised.

The warning comes in the wake of an Iranian attack on Israeli locations last weekend, using drones and ballistic missiles, in retaliation for an earlier Israeli airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, which resulted in the death of several Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers.

Israeli officials have indicated that they are considering response options to the Iranian attacks, while Tehran has warned that it will decisively retaliate against any Israeli actions targeting its territory or forces.

This situation marks a significant increase in regional tensions, prompting heightened safety concerns for nationals from other countries present in the affected areas.

The French Foreign Ministry recently issued a travel advisory for its citizens, recommending against travel to four countries in the Middle East due to escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

This advisory comes amidst a period of heightened conflict in the region, including months of fighting between the Israeli military and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

French authorities are urging nationals to avoid any travel to the area, specifically naming Iran, Israel, Lebanon, and the Palestinian territories as locations to abstain from visiting.

The warning is a direct response to the ongoing violence that has seen the Israeli military continue its bombardment of various areas in the Gaza Strip for 189 consecutive days, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.
