During a meeting aimed at addressing the current political and security challenges in Libya, the Head of the United Nations (UN) Support Mission in Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, convened with the French Ambassador to Libya, Mostafa Mihraje, to deliberate on the latest developments and explore avenues for rejuvenating the stalled political process in the country.
During the discussions, Bathily extended an invitation to Libya’s regional and international partners to bolster dialogue among Libyans, highlighting the crucial role these partners play in facilitating conversations that could lead to a political settlement.
The UN envoy emphasized the importance of building upon existing agreements by Libyan factions to avoid further delays in reaching a political resolution.
Furthermore, the meeting touched upon the situation in neighbouring countries and its potential implications for Libya, underscoring the interconnected nature of regional stability and the importance of comprehensive dialogue in achieving peace.

The French Embassy in Libya announced today, Sunday, that the meeting addressed the situation in southern Libya and bilateral cooperation in the health sector and its development.
Earlier, the President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed al-Manfi, discussed with the French Ambassador, Mustafa Mehraj, the developments in the security and political situation in Libya.
Mehraj wrote on his platform X: “Meeting with the President of the Presidential Council and exchanges on the political file after the Cairo meeting, the security situation, and the region’s crises.”
