Since the beginning of this year until the end of July, the number of immigrants who arrived in Italy stood at 89,158, marking an increase of approximately 18.15%, according to the Italian agency Nova, citing statistics from the Italian Ministry of the Interior.
The majority of these immigrants hailed from Tunisia, with their numbers reaching 54,693, which represents 61.34% of the total. This is followed by Libya, which accounted for 30,075, representing 33.7% of the total.
Turkey ranked third in the statistics provided by the Ministry of the Interior, with 4,003 arrivals recorded in the first seven months of 2023. Meanwhile, 387 arrived from Algeria. Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) were the most frequently declared nationalities by the immigrants arriving on the Italian shores. As for Guinea, 11,315 individuals declared their nationality as Guinean upon their arrival in Italy, while 11,287 stated they came from Côte d’Ivoire, followed by Egypt with 7,795 immigrants, Tunisia with 6,761, Bangladesh with 6,729, and Pakistan with 6,161.
