The Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria has announced that Russian air forces have destroyed two militant bases in the provinces of Homs and Deir ez-Zor.

Deputy Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation, Major General Yuri Bubov, stated in a release that “Russian airstrikes targeted two militant bases emerging from the Al-Tanf area, hiding in hard-to-reach regions within the Amour Mountains in Homs province and the Bishri Mountains in Deir ez-Zor province.”

This military action comes in the wake of a telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad, at the end of last month. The leaders agreed to intensify communications, especially in the realm of counterterrorism efforts.

Russia’s intervention in the ongoing Syrian conflict, primarily through aerial support for Syrian army operations, advisory assistance, and the deployment of military police units, has significantly contributed to reclaiming most of the country’s territories from armed opposition factions.
