In a bid to maintain public safety and security, the Security Committee of Sudan’s Nile State, located north of the capital Khartoum, has announced the imposition of a curfew on individuals and vehicles across all localities of the state.

The curfew will be enforced daily from 8:00 PM until 6:00 AM local time, starting Wednesday.

Furthermore, the committee has declared a ban on group iftars (breaking of fast meals) and gatherings, alongside intensified inspections and increased scrutiny at checkpoints, reinforcing security operations in markets.

These measures come in the aftermath of a Ramadan iftar event hosted by the Bara’ bin Malik group, aligned with the Sudanese military, which was targeted by a drone attack at a wedding hall in the city of Atbara, located north of Sudan.

The attack resulted in fatalities and injuries, with some in critical condition.

The perpetrators behind the incident remain unknown, and the Sudanese military has yet to issue any statements regarding the attack.

Widely believed to be one of the most highly-trained and armed factions, the Bara’ bin Malik group comprises youth groups aged between 20 and 35, largely affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood.
