Enrique Mora, Chief of Staff to Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, emphasized the urgency of resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, stating that it is imperative for there to be either a Palestinian state or face the dire consequences of an irreversible catastrophe.

Addressing the Israeli authorities, Mora expressed uncertainty regarding their comprehension of an impending tipping point, beyond which their longstanding strategies would become obsolete.

He stressed the pivotal choice facing the international community: either facilitate the establishment of a Palestinian state or witness the perpetuation of the ongoing crisis, which would have far-reaching repercussions for generations to come.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden engaged in discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, exploring potential avenues for the creation of an independent Palestinian state. Biden suggested that one plausible approach could involve the formation of a non-militarized Palestinian government.

The conversation between Biden and Netanyahu marked their first interaction in nearly a month, as confirmed by the White House. The dialogue primarily revolved around Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza.

Responding to inquiries from reporters, White House spokesperson John Kirby clarified that Biden had been endeavoring to schedule the call for an extended period and refuted claims that it was prompted by Netanyahu’s recent remarks expressing reservations about Palestinian statehood without adequate assurances for Israel’s security.
