Antonio Tajani, the Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, stated that Europe has made the decision to directly support Tunisia, independent of the International Monetary Fund, in order to promote stability.

Tajani further predicted the signing of a European aid package for Tunisia, likely to occur within the next few days.

Tajani highlighted that the European decision to support Tunisia was made during the visits of European Commission President von der Leyen, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who had visited Tunisia on multiple occasions.

The European Union and Tunisia are set to sign a memorandum of understanding on a comprehensive partnership package, which encompasses strengthening economic and trade relations, sustainable energy, competitiveness, and immigration.

The European Union has announced a total financial assistance of 900 million euros for Tunisia.
