The Algerian Council of the Nation has proposed to the North African geopolitical group, to be submitted to the African Parliament’s bureau, condemning the atrocious and painful massacres against Palestinians in Gaza and praising the honorable stance of the Republic of South Africa at the International Court of Justice in condemning the Zionist entity. This occurred during the meeting of the North African geopolitical group, led by Abdelmajid Azaldeen, a member of the Council of the Nation and the head of the North African geopolitical group at the African Parliament.

The Algerian delegation consisted of Abdelmajid Azaldeen, member of the Council of the Nation and head of the North African geopolitical group at the African Parliament; Abdelmalek Tacherift, member of the Council of the Nation and member of the Review and Public Accounts Committee at the African Parliament; Bahja El Amali, deputy at the National People’s Council and head of the Transport, Energy, Industry, Communications, Science and Technology Committee at the African Parliament; Fateh Boutbik, head of the parliamentary group of the Future Front at the National People’s Council and member of the African Parliament; and Mohamed Saqrass, deputy at the National People’s Council and member of the African Parliament.

Recent developments in the Gaza war include continued Israeli air strikes targeting hospitals and a significant death toll. The conflict has led to widespread displacement, with a considerable portion of Gaza’s population now being refugees within their own region. Efforts for a humanitarian ceasefire, led by international mediators, are ongoing amid escalating military operations. The conflict has drawn global protests and diplomatic efforts aiming for a ceasefire and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Human Rights Watch has reported devastating effects on people with disabilities due to the Israeli bombardment and blockade, noting the lack of warning and the inability of those with disabilities to evacuate safely. Amnesty International further found that U.S.-made munitions were used in deadly Israeli air strikes on civilian homes, underlining the severity of the attacks on the civilian population.
