Russian Air defenses operated over the Lomonosov district in the Leningrad Region to destroy the aerial targets over the Gulf of Finland, TASS reported.

Governor Alexander Drozdenko wrote on his Telegram channel: “Air defenses went off over the Lomonosov district of the Leningrad Region. Air targets were hit over the Gulf of Finland.”

The news agency reported that there were no casualties or destruction as a result of the incident.

Meanwhile, St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov said that he was in contact with the command of the Leningrad Military District and the 6th Air Force and Air Defense Army.

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently affirmed that Moscow has no intentions of deploying nuclear weapons in space during a meeting with the country’s security council members.

The Kremlin reported the president’s comments, emphasizing that the allegations circulating in some Western circles about Russia’s supposed plans are baseless.

Putin dismissed the claims as “unfounded” and labeled them as “fake narratives.” He further asserted that these narratives are strategically designed by the West to engage Russia in negotiations on terms that primarily favor the United States.

The statement from the Russian President comes in response to a series of reports in Western media alleging that U.S. intelligence data suggests Russia’s involvement in the development of nuclear weapons for deployment in space.
