The Lebanese militant group Hezbollah has mourned the loss of three of its fighters who were killed in southern Lebanon by an Israeli drone targeting a vehicle near the town of Naqoura on Saturday.

According to the Lebanese National News Agency, on Saturday, an Israeli drone targeted a vehicle on the road to Naqoura in the Al-Hamra area of southern Lebanon.

The agency reported, “An Israeli hostile drone targeted this morning a vehicle on the road to Naqoura in the Al-Hamra area, and ambulances rushed to the scene.”

Lebanese channel “Al Jadeed” reported, citing sources, that three individuals were killed in an Israeli drone attack on a vehicle in the town of Naqoura.

The recent tensions between Israel and Lebanon have escalated, with significant incidents involving Hezbollah and Israeli forces. On November 12, 2023, Israeli jets launched strikes on Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon in response to an antitank missile attack by Hezbollah that wounded Israelis near the border. The missile strike targeted an Israeli team near the village of Dovev, close to the Lebanon-Israel frontier.

Hezbollah claimed the attack was against an Israeli team installing surveillance equipment near the border. This exchange is part of a series of confrontations that have occurred since the Hamas attack on October 7, with Israel and armed groups in southern Lebanon, including Hezbollah and Hamas’s Lebanese branch, exchanging fire almost daily.

Earlier, on October 8, 2023, following a deadly attack by Palestinian gunmen on Israel, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides, Israel and Hezbollah exchanged artillery and rocket fire. Hezbollah announced it had targeted Israeli positions in the Shebaa Farms area in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Lebanese army reported that shells and rockets had been launched from southern Lebanon onto what it referred to as “occupied Lebanese territory,” and Israeli return fire resulted in several injuries.

Additionally, on a separate occasion, Israel conducted airstrikes in southern Lebanon targeting Hamas infrastructure in response to rocket attacks towards northern Israeli areas.
