Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on Monday that recent remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he calls on Qatar to pressure “Hamas” to release hostages, are merely a new attempt to “stall and prolong the war.”
In a statement on “X,” Al-Ansari said that the recent statements by the Israeli prime minister, calling on Qatar to pressure Hamas to release the hostages, are nothing but a new attempt by him to stall and prolong the war for reasons that are now clear to all.
He pointed out that Netanyahu is well aware that Qatar has been committed from day one to mediation efforts, ending the crisis, and freeing the hostages.
The proof lies in the humanitarian truce that released 109 hostages, demonstrating that negotiation and reaching an agreement is the only solution to return the hostages, end the escalation, and ensure the security of the region.”
Al-Ansari added, “We reject the baseless accusations made by the Israeli Prime Minister regarding Qatar’s efforts in reconstruction and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza, which he portrayed as financing for Hamas. As he knows, these efforts were conducted in full coordination with Israel, the United States, Egypt, the United Nations, and all concerned parties.”
He continued that Qatar affirms its commitment to mediation efforts and will not be distracted by trivial statements and rhetoric, which can only be understood in the context of Netanyahu’s personal political crises.
Al-Ansari called for a focus on the negotiation path that serves the security of the region and ends the ongoing tragedy of the war, rather than issuing such statements whenever it suits his narrow political agenda.
