The Austrian government has announced plans to inject €420 million into Vienna International Airport by the year 2027.

According to Gunther Ofner, a member of the airport’s executive board, the investment will fund the expansion of Terminal 3, alongside the addition of new shopping centers, restaurants, and bus gates.

Ofner detailed that the expansion includes enlarging the lounges, implementing new security checkpoints, and adding 18 new bus gates, covering an area of 70,000 square meters.

The construction project has already entered an intensive phase, with civil engineering works underway.

The financing for this extensive project will be fully covered by the airport’s future cash flow, avoiding the need for loans.

The expansion is set to welcome renowned Austrian and international brands and premium service providers, with completion scheduled for 2027.
