The Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency in Libya announced on Sunday that it had detained 1,507 irregular migrants during the past January.

According to the agency, medical tests conducted within the branch revealed that 52 of the migrants had infectious diseases, while the statuses of 1,455 migrants were regularized by issuing them informational security registration cards.

The Benghazi Anti-Illegal Immigration unit is actively working on status regularization and deportation.

The shelter unit within the branch regularized the statuses of 565 irregular migrants by issuing them informational security registration cards.

Noteworthy incidents include the liberation of 79 migrants, including 14 women, who were held in “cells” in Sabha, the arrest of a smuggler and 60 irregular migrants in Sabrath, and a European delegation’s visit to the “Ain Zara Shelter,” where they stated that repatriating migrants to their home countries is the best solution to the issue.

The deportation unit of the branch deported 898 irregular migrants from ten different nationalities through air and land borders, including 142 who were infected and 129 with security restrictions.
