Ahmed Fahmy, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, emphasized the country’s unwavering commitment to providing relief to the Palestinian people.
Highlighting the nation’s paramount interest in aiding the 2.3 million residents of Gaza, Fahmy outlined Egypt’s priorities, which include the rejection of forced displacement and ensuring the continuous flow of humanitarian aid into the region.
According to Fahmy, Egypt’s approach is based on meticulous and prudent calculations regarding the implications of unfolding events in the area and the potential for escalation.
He noted that Egypt has facilitated the entry of aid trucks into Gaza even before the onset of the conflict, demonstrating the country’s proactive stance in addressing the humanitarian crisis.
In exclusive remarks to Cairo News Channel, Fahmy stressed Egypt’s focus on delivering sufficient humanitarian assistance to prevent the dire and deteriorating situation currently experienced by Gaza’s inhabitants.
He highlighted Egypt’s role in facilitating visits by dozens of international and UN officials, who have witnessed firsthand the efforts made by Egypt to fulfill its humanitarian duty and support the people of Gaza to the fullest extent.
Fahmy firmly rejected the politicization of humanitarian aid, stating that the humanitarian situation should not be used as a tool of warfare. He reiterated Egypt’s stance against collective punishment tactics, such as starvation, displacement, and the denial of essential services and facilities.
“From the very first moment, Egypt’s policy and practice have been to ensure the delivery of aid sufficient to relieve civilians in the sector, home to more than 2 million people,” Fahmy declared.
He further clarified that Egypt is not interested in engaging in disputes related to this matter and remains determined to continue its role in promoting peace and ensuring the unimpeded delivery of aid.
Fahmy assured that the crossing remains open and will continue to facilitate the maximum possible assistance, emphasizing the ease and lack of restrictions on aid entry.
