A British-owned oil tanker was hit by a Houthi missile off the coast of Yemen on Friday, causing a fire on board, the company that operates the vessel said.
Trafigura said the Liberia-flagged Marlin Luanda was carrying a cargo of oil from Saudi Arabia to Singapore when it was struck by the missile. The company said the crew was safe and that the fire was under control.
The United States military said it shot down a Houthi ballistic missile that was fired at a US warship in the Gulf of Aden. The missile was launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen.
The Houthi rebels have been targeting ships in the Red Sea since November, saying they are targeting ships linked to Israel in support of Palestinians in Gaza.
The United States and Britain have conducted joint airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, but the rebels have vowed to continue their attacks.
