Morocco’s tourism industry has experienced a remarkable upswing in 2023, with the country’s official Tourism Observatory reporting a 38% increase in overnight stays in classified tourist accommodation facilities during the first eleven months of the year, compared to the same period in 2022.

The total number of overnight stays reached an impressive 72 million nights, a significant leap from the 52 million nights recorded in the same timeframe last year.

Additionally, the revenue from foreign travel, primarily generated by non-resident tourists in Morocco, surged by 16%, culminating in a striking 97 billion Dirhams. This boost in tourism revenue highlights the sector’s robust recovery and significant contribution to the Moroccan economy.

The Ministry of Tourism anticipates that the number of tourists arriving in Morocco will surpass 14 million in 2023, marking a 25% increase from the previous year.

This expectation aligns with the country’s strategic efforts to revitalize its tourism sector, which is a crucial component of the national economy, accounting for approximately 10% of Morocco’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

This positive trend in Morocco’s tourism industry signifies a rebound from the challenges posed by global events in recent years, reflecting the country’s appeal as a top travel destination and its ongoing commitment to enhancing its tourism infrastructure and offerings.
