Saudi authorities have announced the successful thwarting of a drug smuggling attempt at the border with Jordan at the Al-Haditha border crossing.

The attempt involved concealing a substantial quantity of Captagon pills within a truck arriving in the kingdom through the border.

The seizure, which occurred on Thursday, amounted to a staggering 841,440 Captagon pills.

The Saudi Customs, Tax, and Customs Authority revealed that during the inspection and examination of one of the trucks arriving through the Al-Haditha border crossing, 841,440 Captagon pills were discovered concealed within specially designed iron boxes intended for smuggling.

The authority emphasized its ongoing customs supervision of the kingdom’s imports and exports and its commitment to combating smuggling in coordination and continuous collaboration with its partners in the General Directorate for Drug Control, all aimed at safeguarding the security of society.

Saudi authorities have not provided information regarding the source of the shipment or its point of origin, nor have they announced any arrests related to the smuggling attempt.

It is worth noting that Saudi Arabia has thwarted several drug smuggling operations in recent years, with many originating from Syria via Jordan.

Jordan has also intercepted numerous drug smuggling attempts in recent months, primarily from Syria through its northern borders, resulting in clashes, casualties, and arrests of some smugglers.
