The Russian Permanent Mission to the United Nations announced that the Security Council will hold two meetings later today, Friday, to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and Yemen. According to the TASS news agency, the first meeting is scheduled for 3:00 PM to discuss the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue.

The United States and Britain launched air and sea raids on Yemen early this Friday, targeting several provinces. The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) revealed that Washington, in coordination with its allies and with the participation of British forces, targeted the Houthis with several strikes. A source, in exclusive statements to the American “Al Hurra” channel today, Friday, stated that Houthi platforms for launching rockets and drones were targeted, explaining that the strikes against the Houthis were carried out with aircraft, ships, and submarines.

The recent situation in Yemen following the US-UK strikes has escalated tensions in the region. These strikes were a response to the Houthi rebels’ attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. In retaliation, the Houthis have declared US and British interests as “legitimate targets,” following the air and sea strikes against them. The attacks, which reportedly killed five people, have raised fears of further regional conflict. The US and Britain conducted dozens of air strikes on Houthi military targets as part of a broader wave of regional conflict stemming from the war in Gaza.

Israel’s intensified military actions has led to a significant escalation of conflict and widespread destruction. Israeli forces have been conducting heavy bombardment in various parts of Gaza, including areas near the Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Hospital in Deir el-Balah and in the city of Rafah. These attacks have resulted in a high number of casualties.
