The recent US and UK airstrikes on Houthi targets in Yemen have resulted in the deaths of 5 individuals and left 6 others wounded, according to the Iran-backed rebels on Friday.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi rebels, stated, “The airstrikes led to the martyrdom of 5 and the injury of 6 others from our armed forces.”

Saree further elaborated in a statement that the United States and the United Kingdom carried out a total of 73 airstrikes in the provinces of Sanaa, Hodeidah, Taiz, Hajjah, and Saada.

He held both countries fully responsible for the attack and warned that it “will not pass without a response and punishment.”

The Houthi spokesperson added, “We will not hesitate to target sources of threat and all hostile targets on land and sea.”

He also affirmed that the strikes against their group would not deter them from continuing to prevent Israeli ships or those heading to Israel from navigating in the Red Sea.

The United States and the United Kingdom announced airstrikes on Houthi locations last night to disrupt and weaken the group’s capabilities to endanger navigation freedom and threaten global trade.

Several ships in the Red Sea have been targeted in attacks by the Yemeni Houthi group, attacks they claim are in retaliation for Israel’s war on Gaza that began on October 7th last year.
