The Swiss Federal Council (the government) has announced that it is considering the possibility of tightening sanctions on Russia, as well as monitoring their implementation, according to a report by “Russia Today.”

In its annual report for 2023, which was published on the official government website, the Federal Council stated that the sanctions imposed on Russia require additional efforts for enforcement and monitoring compliance, as reported by “Russia Today.”

The Federal Council is exploring the possibility of strengthening criminal provisions against those violating the sanctions law.

Switzerland, which is neither a member of NATO nor the European Union, supports sanctions against Russia imposed by the European Union.

In 2022, the Russian government approved a list of unfriendly foreign countries, and Switzerland was included on this list.
