Yesterday, power outages affected 8,500 people in Pas-de-Calais and 1,850 in northern France.

Enedis, the distribution network manager, reported that over 10,000 homes lost electricity in the northern and Pas-de-Calais regions.

These areas were hit by severe weather and significant new floods, just two months after the initial devastating episode.

“At midday, 10,350 customers are experiencing power outages in the northern region and Pas-de-Calais (8,500 in Pas-de-Calais and 1,850 in the northern region),” Enedis stated in a press release.

The company mobilized 200 employees and service providers to address the situation. In addition to the floods, the region faced strong winds.

The northern region was placed on orange flood alert, according to the latest Vigicrues bulletin, while Pas-de-Calais has been on red flood alert since Tuesday afternoon due to an “exceptional flood” on the Aa River, a coastal river it traverses, particularly affecting Saint-Omer.

A journalist with Agence France-Presse noted that many buildings in Blendecques, on Route A, lost power on Wednesday morning, including the town hall and the chamber housing victims.
