Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune conducted extensive discussions today, Wednesday, with his counterpart from Sierra Leone.
Before this, President Tebboune had a one-on-one conversation with Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Bio.
President Tebboune accorded an official reception to President Julius Maada Bio at the Algerian Presidential headquarters.
The two heads of state inspected various formations of the National People’s Army, which presented them with honorary salutes before listening to the national anthems of both countries.
The Sierra Leonean President also visited the Martyrs’ Memorial in Algiers, where he observed a minute of silence and laid a wreath at the memorial dedicated to the martyrs of the glorious Algerian War of Independence.
Accompanied by his Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Minister, Ahmed Attaf, President Bio also visited the National Mujahideen Museum.
There, he received detailed explanations about various stages of Algeria’s history, especially those about the glorious War of Independence.
Tebboune recently engaged in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding his anticipated visit to France.
The Algerian Presidency, in a statement, revealed that the two leaders exchanged New Year greetings and delved into details of President Tebboune’s forthcoming visit to France, as well as the status of bilateral relations between the two countries.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf had previously clarified that the official visit was still under preparation.
The visit hinges on resolving five key issues: the memory question, mobility, economic cooperation, French nuclear tests in the Algerian desert, and the return of symbolic items belonging to Emir Abdelkader, the founder of modern Algeria.
