Eintracht Frankfurt, the German club, announced on Monday the signing of Manchester United’s Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek on loan.
The club stated in an announcement on its official website: “The 26-year-old midfielder moves from Manchester United to Frankfurt on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy.”
Van de Beek has played in 62 official matches with the “Red Devils,” scoring two goals and making two assists.
Donny van de Beek started his football career at a young age with the local Veensche Boys’ academy, where his father once played. He joined the Ajax youth academy in August 2014 and signed a three-year contract. Van de Beek quickly progressed through the academy ranks and made significant strides, eventually making his debut for Jong Ajax (the Ajax reserve team) in the Eerste Divisie against Sparta Rotterdam in January 2015. He was later called to the senior team for a UEFA Europa League match against Celtic in November 2015, making his European debut. Throughout his time at Ajax, Van de Beek established himself as a key player, contributing significantly to the team’s success, including their journey to the UEFA Europa League Final and later the UEFA Champions League semi-finals.
In August 2020, Van de Beek joined Premier League club Manchester United. However, he found it challenging to secure a regular starting role under the management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Seeking more playtime, he joined Everton on loan in January 2022 but faced difficulties in making a significant impact due to injuries and team performance.
Throughout his career, Van de Beek has also been active in international football, representing the Netherlands at various youth levels before making his senior international debut in November 2017. He was part of the Dutch squad that reached the UEFA Nations League Final in 2019.
