Protests in Israel Call for Netanyahu’s Resignation

Thousands of protesters took to the streets across Israel on Saturday night, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The demonstrators argue that nearly three months into the war, his government has failed to achieve its objectives of eliminating Hamas or freeing the hostages held in the Gaza Strip.

Since the surprise attack by Hamas fighters on Israel on October 7th, dozens of Israelis have been staging a continuous sit-in in front of the Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv. They vow to continue their protest until the hostages in Gaza are released and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu resigns.

Large crowds gathered last night in Tel Aviv to protest against Netanyahu, while others assembled outside the Prime Minister’s private residence in Caesarea, northern Israel.

Gal, the mother of a soldier currently fighting in Gaza, stated, “We will continue to be here and everywhere because we are not prepared to allow this miserable leadership to remain even for one more day.”

An Israeli soldier expressed concern about the internal threats to the country: “It’s true that Israel has many enemies and threats, but unfortunately, today, Prime Minister Netanyahu and his continued rule is the biggest existential threat to our country and society.”

“My Goal is to Eliminate Hamas, Not My Job”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed on Saturday that he does not plan to resign even after the end of the war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Speaking to journalists in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said, “I plan to get rid of Hamas, but I will not give up my job,” when asked whether he intends to step down after the Israeli military campaign in Gaza concludes. He added, “The war is at its peak right now. We are fighting on all fronts. Achieving victory will take time, and the war will continue for many more months.”
