Israeli Opposition leader Yair Lapid has disclosed that the Israeli government has yet to articulate a clear strategic objective for the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
Lapid emphasized the necessity of establishing a comprehensive plan for the aftermath of the war, asserting that engaging in such a conflict without a defined strategy is untenable.
Speaking on the role of the Palestinian Authority in post-war Gaza, Lapid outlined a vision where it becomes an integral part of the civilian structure alongside international and Arab involvement.
He underscored the urgency of addressing the return of hostages, characterizing the available options for Israel as “not good, only bad.”
Lapid advocated for increased pressure on Hamas, asserting that negotiations alone are insufficient.
Expressing his belief in an eventual transition to the next phase of the conflict, he had previously criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, claiming a loss of trust among the majority of Israelis and stating that “the government of Israel no longer exists.”
