By the end of 2023, Flydubai’s fleet will have expanded to 84 aircraft, including 55 Boeing 737 MAX and 29 of the next-generation Boeing 737-800. This growth follows the addition of 13 Boeing 737 MAX planes to their fleet this year.
In a press statement, the company announced that it also launched 17 new destinations this year, including the resumption of flights to previously operated locations.
Flydubai’s network now spans 122 destinations across Africa, Central Asia, Central and Southeast Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of Flydubai, commented on the carrier’s achievements in 2023: “This year was another exceptional one, with opportunities and growth milestones achieved.
These accomplishments reflect the strong foundation we have set, evident in another robust financial performance with record profits announced for 2022. This performance has propelled us forward, surpassing our achievements from the previous year.”
In 2023, Flydubai attracted over 1,000 new talents across various departments, increasing its total workforce to 5,500 employees. This recruitment represents a 19% growth in staff numbers compared to the previous year.
Operating from Terminals 2 and 3 at Dubai International Airport, Flydubai also signed two new code-share agreements with Air Canada and United Airlines in 2023.
These partnerships complement its ongoing strategic alliance with Emirates Airlines, offering passengers seamless and flexible connecting flights.
Further demonstrating its successful business model, Flydubai placed its fourth aircraft order since its inception in 2008.
The order, valued at $11 billion, is for 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners. Over the summer, Flydubai transported more than 4.5 million passengers across its network.
