British Defense Minister Grant Shapps hosted Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz at Lancaster House in London. This visit is part of an official tour to the UK.
Upon his arrival, Prince Khalid received an official welcome ceremony, including a guard of honor. Following the ceremony, the ministers held an extensive bilateral meeting. Delegations from both ministries attended. They reviewed the strategic partnership and prospects of bilateral cooperation, focusing on military and defense areas. They aimed to further mutual interests.
The meeting also discussed coordinating efforts to support regional and global security and stability. Several issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
Attendees included Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, and senior military officials from both countries.
Notably, Saudi Arabia and France have signed a joint implementation plan for cooperation in the military, research, and development industries, following joint talks between Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman and his French counterpart Sébastien Le Cornu in Paris, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency “SPA” on Wednesday.
Prince Khalid bin Salman discussed regional and international developments as well as several topics of mutual interest with the French Defense Minister.
In a tweet, he mentioned, “I discussed with the French Minister of the Armed Forces our strategic relations, military and defense cooperation, as well as our shared vision for the security and stability of the region.”
