Taiwanese shipping giant Evergreen has temporarily suspended accepting Israeli goods due to recent heightened hostilities in the region.

This decision comes in response to increased safety concerns amid ongoing conflicts.

In a statement, Evergreen mentioned that given the recent violent escalation in the region, they will temporarily halt the import and export of Israeli goods due to heightened risks.

The move reflects the precarious circumstances in the area.

Earlier on the same day, British energy and fuel company BP revealed plans to suspend its oil tanker routes through the Red Sea temporarily.

This decision is prompted by deteriorating security conditions in the region.

BP emphasized that the suspension is a response to the escalating attacks on commercial vessels by the Houthi rebel group in Yemen.

Additionally, the UK Maritime Trade Operations, under the British Royal Navy’s oversight, received an alert regarding a potential attack from a ship in the Red Sea.

There have been no immediate reports of injuries or damages.

In a related context, the Houthi rebel group in Yemen confirmed carrying out a significant operation against two vessels with ties to Israel.

They reiterated their commitment to targeting ships headed to Israeli ports, regardless of their nationality.

It’s important to note that the Houthi leader, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, announced on October 10th of the previous year that his group would support Palestinian factions in confronting the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip.

The conflict has been ongoing since October 7th of the same year.
