A Libyan court has sentenced a former envoy to Uganda to 13 months in prison for failing to fulfill his duties, according to a statement by the Libyan Public Prosecution on Sunday.

The court also sentenced the former financial officer of the embassy to one year in prison.

The prosecution said that its investigation found that the two officials had failed to fulfill their duties, including managing the embassy’s finances and providing consular services to Libyan citizens in Uganda.

In addition to the former mission head, the court also sentenced the financial official to one year in prison. However, both individuals were acquitted of two other charges.
