In the early hours of Thursday, Azerbaijan experienced a seismic event as a 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook the southern Caucasus region.

The Azerbaijan Seismological Service Center reported that the epicenter of the quake was situated in the Caspian Sea and occurred precisely at 8:16 am (0416GMT), reaching a depth of 68 kilometers (42.3 miles).

Residents in the capital city, Baku, also felt the impact of the quake, which prompted concerns and heightened awareness among the population.

However, as of the latest reports, there is no available information regarding damage or casualties resulting from the seismic activity.

The Azerbaijan Seismological Service Center is actively monitoring the situation, conducting assessments, and liaising with relevant authorities to provide accurate and timely updates.

While the earthquake has raised concerns, it is essential to await further information from official sources to gain a comprehensive understanding of the incident’s impact and any necessary response measures.
