Zoom has released a new app, “Zoom for Home TV,” specifically designed for Apple TV devices. This app enables users to join meetings, discussions, and dialogues on Zoom via their Apple TV, effectively turning their television into a display screen for Zoom meetings. Although Apple TV lacks a built-in camera, the app allows for the use of an iPhone or iPad camera in conjunction with Apple’s “Continuity Camera” feature.
According to a report by “PC Magazine,” the app functions similarly to the FaceTime app on Apple TV. To participate in calls, users can use their mobile device’s camera paired with the Apple TV app. The iPhone can be used to control audio and video or positioned in front of the TV on a stand for a more natural Zoom call experience.
Introduced last year for macOS, the Continuity Camera feature originally allowed the use of a phone’s camera as a webcam for meetings. With the iOS 17 update, Continuity Camera added support for starting a FaceTime call on an iPhone and transferring it to Apple TV, or simply initiating a FaceTime call directly from Apple TV.
