Egyptian Defense Minister, Mohamed Zaki, warned on Monday of a severe and dangerous turn in the Palestinian issue, highlighting an “escalatory military effort aimed at its annihilation.”
Zaki’s statements were made during the inauguration of the “EDEX 2023” defense and military industries exhibition in Cairo. The event was attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and numerous defense ministers and chiefs of staff from various countries.
In his address, the Egyptian Defense Minister expressed that the Palestinian cause is facing a “highly dangerous and sensitive trajectory with an uncalculated military escalation to impose a reality on the ground aimed at the elimination of the Palestinian issue.”
Zaki emphasized that joint cooperation is the real guarantee for achieving security, development, and prosperity for nations and peoples who cherish peace. He stressed that “peace requires a force to protect and ensure its continuity, as there is no place for the weak in our world today – a reality we all witness.”
He continued, “Our armed forces will always remain the guardians and protectors of this nation, preserving its security and stability, and striving to possess the strength to repel any aggression on our precious land of Egypt, in close cooperation with countries that love security and peace.”
James Elder, a spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), stated last night that the worst bombing of the war is currently happening in the southern Gaza Strip, leading to devastating losses among children.
Elder expressed an urgent plea: “We have one last warning to save the children of Gaza and our collective conscience.”
In an earlier interview with CNN on Sunday, Elder described the dire situation of Palestinian families and children in a Gaza hospital. “There is panic among the people; they don’t know where to go. They are almost in a state of shock,” he said.
