In a determined stance, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah emphasized on Tuesday that discussions about the future of Gaza cannot take place until there is an immediate ceasefire and an end to all forms of violence against civilians.

Speaking in Moscow as part of a committee formed after an extraordinary summit by the Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh, Prince Faisal, accompanied by Muslim and Arab counterparts, reiterated the urgency of halting the conflict in Gaza.

“This humanitarian tragedy cannot be justified with excuses of self-defense,” Prince Faisal declared during the committee’s visit to Moscow, the second stop after China.

The committee, led by Prince Faisal, has been assigned the task of engaging with influential nations to advocate for a ceasefire. Prince Faisal stressed the need for an immediate cessation of the war on Gaza and called for the resumption of a serious and equitable peace process, supported by international resolutions.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, acknowledging the situation, stated that preparations must be undertaken to launch a peace process based on the two-state solution. The visit to Moscow is part of broader diplomatic efforts to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza and promote a path towards lasting peace in the region.
