Belize, situated in Central America, has announced the suspension of its diplomatic relations with Israel due to the ongoing offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The government of Belize stated that it has suspended its diplomatic relations with Israel because of the continued Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, November 15th, the Belizean government cited the “indiscriminate and relentless shelling in Gaza” as the basis for its decision to suspend diplomatic ties with Israel.
Belize, formerly known as British Honduras, is a constitutional monarchy located in North Central America.
It boasts a diverse society encompassing various cultures and languages. It is the only country in Central America where English is the official language.
The Israeli military claimed that during the surprise and unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on southern Israel on October 7, igniting the current conflict, the militants kidnapped around 240 people, taking them to the Gaza Strip and holding them hostage.
Since the attack by Hamas, which the Israeli authorities say left 1,200 dead, most of them civilians, including women and children, Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip, according to health authorities there, have killed more than 11,400 people, the majority of whom were civilians, including women and children.
