The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reports that more than 4,600 children have killed in Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7th. This tragic toll underscores the high cost paid by children in the region.

According to Salim Awais, the regional spokesperson for UNICEF, children in Gaza have been disproportionately affected by the continuous Israeli attacks. He highlighted that hospitals providing care for children have also come under Israeli bombardment. Additionally, there has been a concerning increase in cases of severe psychological distress among children in Gaza, exacerbated by the ongoing crisis.

Awais pointed out that even before the current conflict, 50% of children in Gaza were already in need of psychological support due to previous Israeli assaults. He emphasized that an immediate solution to alleviate the suffering of these children is to protect them from further psychological trauma by ending the war.

In a region plagued by conflict, these numbers serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for peace and humanitarian intervention to protect the most vulnerable among us – the children of Gaza.
