France was struck by the powerful storm named ‘Seran’ on Thursday, resulting in one fatality and power outages affecting more than 1.2 million households, according to officials. Warnings have been issued in regions in Brittany and Normandy in anticipation of strong winds, as reported by Reuters.

In the department of Finistère in Brittany, where winds reached speeds of up to 207 kilometers per hour, two individuals sustained minor injuries, and traffic remained prohibited until further notice. Residents have been urged to stay in their homes.

Transport Minister Clément Bonne told France Info radio that a truck driver died in the northeastern Parisian suburb of Aisne due to a tree falling on his truck.

Energy Minister Annick Banie-Ronacher explained on the social media platform Twitter that the storm resulted in power outages for 1.2 million households. Nearly all coastlines of the French mainland were under severe weather warnings Thursday morning, from Calais on the English Channel to all the way down the shores of the Atlantic Ocean to Spain, as well as much of France’s Mediterranean coast and Corsica, according to national weather service Météo-France.
