Sadiq Al-Khudour, spokesperson for the Palestinian Ministry of Education, announced the tragic loss of 2000 students in the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli occupation’s aggression on the sector.

According to Palestinian media outlets, which covered the story this Sunday, Al-Khudour highlighted the dire situation, noting the death of more than 70 individuals from the educational sector over the course of the ongoing 23-day assault. Furthermore, 200 schools have fallen victim to the onslaught.

For 23 consecutive days, since October 7th, the Israeli occupation has relentlessly continued its heavy bombardment and destruction in the Gaza Strip, leveling homes with their residents still inside, and laying waste to roads and vital infrastructure.

The government media office in Gaza has reported a heart-wrenching tally of 10,000 martyrs and individuals missing beneath the rubble since the start of the Israeli offensive on the besieged sector on October 7th.

In a statement released this Sunday morning, the office urgently called upon all countries and bodies to “act swiftly to halt the massacre in Gaza, and to ensure the timely delivery of essential services and humanitarian needs to the Gaza Strip.”

The Gaza Strip, a small region on the Eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea, has been a focal point of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades. The territory has witnessed numerous escalations and military operations, leading to severe humanitarian crises. The Palestinian Ministry of Education’s report underscores the profound impact of the conflict on education and the future of Palestinian children in Gaza. The international community has expressed growing concern over the situation, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the protection of civilians. Education is a fundamental right, crucial for the development of societies and the fostering of peace. The ongoing conflict not only threatens the present stability of the region but also jeopardizes the future of its young population. Urgent action and international solidarity are needed to address the immediate humanitarian needs and to work toward a long-lasting resolution to the conflict, ensuring that education and the rights of children in Gaza are safeguarded.
