Malaysia has lodged a complaint against Meta and TikTok, accusing them of deliberate restrictions on pro-Palestinian content on their platforms, a claim vehemently denied by both companies.

The Malaysian government has issued a warning of potential actions against Meta, the owner of Facebook, and TikTok if the ban on pro-Palestinian content continues.

However, Meta has refuted these allegations, stating that it does not intentionally “suppress voices.” TikTok also dismissed the accusations, stating that there is “no basis” for them.

TikTok reiterated its commitment to applying its “community protection policies fairly to all content.”
Western media outlets reported on Friday that both Meta, which is banned in Russia as extremist, and TikTok responded to allegations made by the Malaysian government regarding the suppression of pro-Palestinian content during the Gaza conflict

Meta clarified that such accusations hold no validity and that they do not intentionally stifle voices on their platform.

At the same time, TikTok stated that Kuala Lumpur’s allegations of banning pro-Palestinian content are “baseless.”

A spokesperson for TikTok explained that the app applies community guidelines fairly to all content, adding that the company is committed to consistently enforcing our policies to protect the community.
