Despite the recent update to iOS 17.0.3, which aimed to rectify the overheating issues in the iPhone 15 Pro during fast charging, numerous users report continued difficulties with excessive heat generation under various usage conditions.
My earlier thermal images depicted a notable resolution of the fast-charging heating problem post-update, yet a series of user experiences shared, mainly via social media, sheds light on ongoing issues unrelated to charging.
Several iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max owners have encountered overheating dilemmas during different operations such as making calls, engaging in gaming, pocket storage, music playback, and camera utilization.
Although the veracity of these social media-based reports cannot be comprehensively authenticated, a couple of sources – one of whom is a former colleague and another, a graphic designer from Madrid named Gabriel Suchowolski – have provided credible insights and evidence into the matter.
Suchowolski, who upgraded to an iPhone 15 Pro Max from an iPhone 13 Pro, highlighted that the new model exhibited noticeable heating.
The device heated notably, described as “toast-like” warmth, specifically on the right side of the camera lenses and adjacent to the volume buttons. This was particularly evident during calls extending beyond a minute and capturing successive images.
Even post the iOS 17.0.3 update, the issue persisted for Suchowolski, with the phone’s temperature soaring to 42 degrees Celsius (107.6 degrees Fahrenheit), a measurement confirmed with a thermometer and bearing similarity to pre-update fast-charging temperatures I had earlier recorded.
As users await responses or further updates from Apple addressing these heating anomalies, the collective user experiences relayed on social platforms underline a persistent issue that seems to transcend the resolved fast-charging concern.
