The United States has reaffirmed its strategic partnership with Iraq, emphasizing the enhancement of their common values as they work together to confront global challenges.
This statement was made by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a release by the U.S. Department of State on the occasion of Iraq’s National Day.
Blinken remarked, “This is a day for reflection and pride in Iraq’s achievements and the resilience of its people.” He continued, “For over 91 years, Iraq has striven through hardships to build a more inclusive and just society for its citizens and future generations of Iraqis.”
The U.S. and Iraq are collaborating to address challenges such as climate change, economic development, human rights promotion, environmental protection, and ensuring the enduring defeat of ISIS. Blinken emphasized the ongoing effort to strengthen the relationship between the two nations, which forms the foundation of their partnership.
The statement concluded with Blinken expressing, “On behalf of the government and people of the United States, I extend our sincerest congratulations to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and the people of Iraq on the celebration of their independence.”
