France’s President Emmanuel Macron has pledged a $150 million investment in the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) to combat poverty and address climate change in rural areas.

During a video message aired at a charity event organized by the non-profit organization “Global Citizen” in New York, Macron announced that France had decided to host and organize a resource replenishment process for IFAD and extended an invitation for contributions.

IFAD is a United Nations-affiliated fund based in Rome, dedicated to addressing poverty and hunger in rural regions of developing countries.

Crisula Zacaropulo, the French Minister of State for Development, Francophonie, and International Partnerships, also revealed that France committed €40 million (nearly $43 million) to the UN Global Fund for Education in Emergencies and Protracted Crises (Education Can’t Wait) for the period 2023-2026.

Macron‘s announcement underscores France’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at tackling poverty, hunger, and education challenges in developing nations.

These contributions to IFAD and Education Can’t Wait demonstrate France’s dedication to international cooperation and addressing pressing global issues.
