Ukraine‘s Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal has announced that the government will soon allocate additional funds from the state budget, with nearly 2 trillion Ukrainian hryvnias, equivalent to $54,347,100, set to be spent on security and defense this year.
According to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, Shmyhal made this statement at a regional economic forum in Kyiv, saying, “We will allocate nearly 2 trillion hryvnias for the security and defense sector this year.”
We have another 1 trillion hryvnias from our partners, which we will allocate to the social sector in the budget… In fact, all our salaries, pensions, and all budget expenditures that were funded from the state budget in peacetime are now funded from the state budget thanks to the support of international partners and friends,” he added.
“Everyone should understand that the war waged by Russia is not a sprint but a long marathon,” he noted.
The Ukrainian prime minister emphasized the tremendous efforts being made by Ukrainian defenders as they liberated Russian-occupied territories and continued counteroffensives, making the economic aspect of the war of great importance.
Shmyhal stated Ukraine is transitioning to a wartime economy, the entire budget is focused on production and on purchasing everything necessary for the armed forces.
