The US Department of Defense, known as the Pentagon, has announced a new $325 million military aid package for Ukraine.

In a statement released on Friday, the department outlined the components of this new package, which includes AIM-9M air defense missiles, additional ammunition for Javelin anti-tank systems, anti-drone machine guns, and 155mm artillery ammunition.

On Thursday, President Joe Biden welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House, reaffirming continued US support for Kyiv.

Zelensky met with American officials and lawmakers during his second visit to Washington since the start of the Russian military operation, described as “quiet” compared to his first visit.

Biden pledged ongoing support for Ukraine, although concerns have arisen that the slow pace of the counteroffensive and Republican opposition may jeopardize additional military assistance to Kyiv.

Following efforts to garner international support at the United Nations, Zelensky met with President Biden, military leaders at the Pentagon, and American lawmakers during his visit to Washington.

However, some Republicans have questioned the value of approving a new aid package.

Jake Sullivan, the US National Security Advisor, confirmed that a new military aid package would be provided to Ukraine, including air defense systems and other weapons to assist Kyiv in preparing for the harsh winter ahead.
