Poland’s Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki issued a warning, indicating that Ukraine would face consequences if the conflict in the agricultural sector continues.

The Polish Prime Minister stated, “I caution Ukrainian authorities that if the conflict escalates, we will add more products to the ban on imports to Poland.”

Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Economy Taras Kachka announced an imminent ban on the import of certain agricultural products from Poland in response to Poland’s extension of the ban on Ukrainian grain imports.

In response, Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Robert Telus, remarked that Warsaw would adapt to this situation, as supplies are limited. However, it remains uncertain whether Ukraine will also adapt to these changes.

The European Commission had previously announced measures to import certain grain crops from Ukraine.

These measures aimed to address logistical difficulties related to these products in Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.

Initially implemented from May 2nd to June 5th, 2023, the ban was later extended until September 15th.

Earlier, Poland’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Robert Telus, stated that Poland, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania would request the European Commission to extend the ban on grain imports from Ukraine until the end of the year.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded by expressing Ukraine’s disagreement with such plans and called on the leadership of the European Union to find a “balanced solution.”
