The Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority reported that approximately 851 attacks were carried out by occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank during the month of August.
These attacks ranged from direct assaults on civilians to land destruction, seizure of properties, village raids, uprooting of trees, and encroachments, with a significant concentration of incidents in the Jerusalem governorate, totaling 148 attacks, followed by Nablus with 140, and Hebron with 113.
Mouayed Shaban, the head of the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, detailed that settler violations during this period reached 142 attacks. These included organized and severe attacks in Wadi al-Seik, east of Ramallah, as well as in the villages of Burin and Qaryut in the Nablus governorate. In the Hebron governorate, the incidents focused on the town of Masafer Yatta.
Shaban, in a report released today by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority, revealed that the occupation forces carried out 36 demolition operations, resulting in the destruction of 41 homes and commercial structures. These demolitions were concentrated in the Hebron, Jerusalem, and Ramallah governorates.
He further pointed out that the occupation authorities issued 106 demolition, building cessation, and eviction notices to Palestinian structures, indicating a looming surge in demolition operations in the near future. Most of these notices were concentrated in the Jericho governorate with 23, followed by Nablus and Jerusalem with 22 each, and Salfit with 15.
Shaban stated that during the past month, the Israeli government made a dangerous decision to grant land use allocation authority to the settlement sector. This allows them to regulate and enhance their illegal presence on Palestinian lands by approving the allocation of vast areas for settlements like “Amihai” between Ramallah and Nablus and “Mivoy Rehivo” in the Jericho governorate last year.
The report continued to highlight that the occupation authorities approved the construction of 98 settlement units in the “Gevaot Ze’ev” settlement northwest of Jerusalem. Furthermore, they examined the seizure of about 588 dunams of Palestinian lands in several areas. The report also documented the uprooting of 260 trees, with the majority of these incidents occurring in the Hebron governorate, where 110 trees were uprooted, followed by Bethlehem with 70 trees.
